Happy New Year 2017

Happy New Year from Earley and a look ahead ...

On behalf of the Earley team I would like to wish you a very happy New Year.

Here at Earley we are already looking forward to 2017 and I just wanted to share a few opportunities that lie ahead for all of us.

Over 100 colours added and exciting new varieties

As ever, it’s been a busy year here at Earley with over 100 new colours added in 2016 and many new varieties. The highlight has to be the new additions to the Earley Nemesia range - Aroma™ Rhubarb & Custard and Aroma™ Plums & Custard.

These two unusual award-winning, fragrant bicolour combinations are, we believe, the ones to watch out for next year – they were definitely the most talked about amongst customers at our busy Four Oaks show.
Other great introductions are the award-winning Chic Collection Petunia and the four new, striking colour additions to our SunPatiens® range, which is growing from strength to strength. We were also delighted when SunPatiens® Compact Electric Orange was announced as July ‘WGC Plant-of-the-Month’ at Wyevale Garden Centres.

Looking ahead to 2017

We’ve been monitoring the market and other environments, including political, social and consumer influences, and have identified several opportunities for the horticulture sector in 2017.

Brexit means ‘buy British’!
Post Brexit, there seems to be a ‘buy British’ buzz, which for us as a true independent, with UK-based production, can only be a good thing. And for our retailer customers and landscape designers alike many are predicting much demand for those patriotic colours.
 Not just ‘buy British’ but ‘buy Local’ too

Another general trend, recently reinforced by Horticulture Week, is a shift in the decentralisation of buying. Pushing it out to the regions, we will be starting to see a more local approach to buying, one that meets local requirements.

Flowers = Happiness

With so much unrest in the world, a 2017 forecast by International Floral Distributor’s (IFD) reveals an emerging consumer preference for flowers to stimulate happiness, especially fragrant varieties such as those in the Earley Nemesia range.

You can stay up-to-date with everything that’s happening at Earley via our E-News, online at our website, Twitter and LinkedIn or good old face-to-face meetings.

I want to take this opportunity to thank you for your business in 2016, wish you much commercial success for 2017 and look forward to catching up with you in the new year.
